Dogs Trust have done a lot of work in the U.K. re adoption standards this was on a news report, would be good for the canine world

North American version of Dogs Trust will be developed next year according to dogstrust.com. Mrs Barrack Obama has been asked to be the Patron.
Dogs trust in the UK has HRH the Queen as patron and has a history going back 100 years.
The White House Palace connection would send out the right message to children re animal welfare.
Dogs Trust in the United States will be run as a charitable foundation in partnership with an international petcare company incorporating DogsTrust & Cats Trust as Charitable Foundations
