Canine-Friendly Public Transportation

Things in Boulder, Colorado, have gotten even greener since the City debuted a public transportation pilot project that’s gone to the dogs.

Dogs ride free on HOP 2 Chautauqua, a dog-friendly bus route from downtown Boulder to a popular foothills trail head frequented by hikers and their canine companions. The goal is to expand the project to other canine-destination routes in the future.

Boulder is joining other canine-friendly cities such as SEattle, Boston and San Francisco, which allow canines to accompany ytheir woners during off-peak hours, although some restrictions apply and a ticket must be purchased for each traveler.

Here’s hoping that as gas prices soar and the environment gets more overloaded, more and more cities adopt flexible canine public transportation policies.
