For All The Tripods Out There!

Published by jsfarmer under Behavior, Breed, Greta, Greyhounds, Health, Videos

One of my “greyhound” friends recently had to have her hound’s front leg amputated due to bone cancer, which is, unfortunately, common in greyhounds.
Both she and I know of one amazing “tripod” that we’ve both witnessed run our own dogs ragged.
While my friend’s handsome greyhound who, by the way, is also a pal of my [...]

Working With Dogs

Published by jsfarmer under News, Rescue, Research, Training, Vets

Beyond the obvious career choices, such as veterinarian, vet technician, alternative medicine vet, research vet, animal behaviorist, pet therapist, trainer, pet sitter, groomer, day [...]

Published by jsfarmer under Greta, Home, Kennels

In my next life, I’ve decided that I want to run a doggie day care franchise.

Ever since I saw these adorable dogs in The Bark magazine (July/August), I have been obsessing.
They are made by Stacey Hsu and sold in her ETSY shop. In addition to “adopting” pre-made dogs, she also makes [...]

In case you’re not watching The Greatest American Dog on CBS on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT, let me fill you in on all its doggie goodness.
No, there aren’t any greyhounds in the group, but there are plenty of amazing dogs (and owners) as well as a few neurotic dog/owner pairs.
While the show has already [...]

Traps Hurt More Than Help

Published by jsfarmer under News, Rescue, Safety

In Paler, Alaska, there’s a growing problem with pets being caught in traps or snares set for wild animals.
In the case of Andre, a large mixed breed, he lost most of the lower half of his left legs after getting caught in an animal trap or snare.
Alaska isn’t as wild as it used to be, [...]
