Canine Garden Dangers

Gardening may be one of your favorite activities, but it can also be a place full of dangers for your pooch.

If you decide to bring new plants or flowers into your garden beds, first check to be sure they aren’t poisonous or deadly to pets if ingested (see below for toxic plants, such as lilies, daffodils and hyacinths). Ask your veterinarian for a complete list of plants and flowers to avoid.

Mulch can be just as dangerous if it contains cocoa bean shells.

Chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides can be deadly to pets, so be sure what you’re using is safe for plants and pets.

And don’t think you’re alone if you suffer from allergies, because Fido might have them too. If your pooch is constantly sneezing, scratching and/or licking, or if his skin is red or irritated, consult your veterinarian, because Fido might have a case of the allergies.

And be sure to say, “Gazundheight.”
