How to Walk a Dog
If you want to drive me crazy, just walk your dog the wrong way.
Yes, there is a correct way to walk a dog, and it doesn’t involve your dog walking on the traffic side of you.
In other words, your dog should be on your inside when you’re walking him or her–that is, with you inbetween it and the traffic/street.
Even better, train your dog to always walk on your left, and then always walk facing oncoming traffic, and you’re set.
I did some research and read a lot of books, and somewhere along the way the “walk on the left side” concept stuck with me, so I have always done this with Greta.
She is in such a habit of walking on my left, that when my husband joins us for a walk, she insists on being on the inside, with me on her right and my husband on my right.
It’s a safety thing that makes sense for everyone, so we all comply.
