Animal Readings and Reiki
For locals in my area, here’s an opportunity to see what animal communication is all about.
Nikki Cuthbertson, www.onewithnature.info, is coming to Sacramento to do animal communication sessions April 5 and 6. She will start doing readings at around 10:30 a.m., take an hour lunch break, and then continue until 5 or 5:30 p.m. Although the location is to be determined, it will most likely be Curtis Park or McKinley Park.
Cuthbertson is a Registered Nurse, Yoga Instructor, Animal Communicator and Reiki Master who has worked in the health care system for 20 years, primarily in critical care.

Upon deciding to leave the health care system to pursue teaching yoga and offering energy healing, she says that many people have also been coming to her for animal communication. She has worked will various animals, including dogs, cats and horses. In 1999, Cuthbertson became a Reiki Master, and in her client practice, she focuses on exploring the thought patterns that create ill health, as well as exploring health/life habits and balancing of the chakras, or energy centers. For this special event, Cuthbertson is available for animal communication, Reiki or a combo, and she is also offering Reiki on humans (same pricing). She can work in person with the animals, or work off a picture (she also does phone readings as well). The cost is $45 for half hour, $70 for 45 minutes, $85 for 1 hour, and $130 for 1 and 1/2 hours.
Deanne Rotta is the contact person for this event. Anyone interested should call Rotta at (916) 427-4342 or e-mail her at drotta@sbcglobal.net to schedule an appointment in advance. If you want more information about Cuthbertson, call (707) 780-9514 or click here. (For the record, I have never experienced animal communication first hand, but I did sign Greta up for an hour of Reiki/communication, and among other things, I hope to learn how she lost the tip of one ear, why she has sleep aggression, and if she’s happy with the life I am providing her. I will be sure to blog about my experience!)

The pills you pop may make you feel better, but they could be fatal to your pet. Just last year, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) handled 89,000 cases of pets exposed to human medications.
Here’s what to watch out for:

According to the APCC, NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like ibuprofen or naproxen are the most [...]
My distaste for puppy mills notwithstanding, I’m pleased to report that, stepping away from its reputation as “The Puppy Mill Capital of the East,” the Pennsylvania Legislature passed HB 2525 on October 8, a bill that will improve the lives of tens of thousands of dogs living in Pennsylvania’s puppy mills.
HB 2525 doubles the cage [...]
Two years ago today, my husband and I rescued Greta, and our lives have never been the same since. Sure, it was hard in the beginning–after all, she was a puppy with no experiences outside of living in a wire crate 23 hours a day.
Slowly, she learned how to relax and live in a home. [...]
October is Adopt-A-Dog month, a celebration established by the American Humane Association to promote dog adoptions from animal shelters and educate people about responsible pet care. Learn more about events in your area here.
And just in time for Adopt-A-Dog month, Disney’s new film, Beverly Hills Chihuahua hits theaters October 3. The film is about Chloe, [...]
We have had our Greyhounds (Hayden and Harmony) read by Nikki twice with amazed results.
Initially 2 years ago, after we first adopted Hayden, we wanted to be sure Hayden was happy and that we were doing everything we could for him because he slept so much and was very shy. He had been on the race track for 4 1/2 years before being rescued.
Hayden was so shy Nikki couldn’t get close enough to touch him, yet she said it was Ok and began her reading. By the end of the the reading Hayden had relaxed so much with her he had put his back end into Nikki’s hands between her legs.
Nikki told us Hayden said “we were doing everything he needed.” And that “he loved his bed”..(which I had just moved to new location in our bedroom). She told us he was still recouporating energetically from such a stressful life at the track and that was why he slept so much. He told her “he wanted to make us laugh like our other pets but it would take some time.”
Hayden has recently begun pawing at us (most recently with two paws) when we stop petting him. It makes us so happy when he does this that we’ve been laghing out loud a lot with him. He is such a wonderful guy.
Last year Harmony told Nikki she felt left out and wanted more of some type of hard compressed food item. Not kibble, Nikki made that clear. She couldn’t tell us exactly what it was and we couldn’t figuer it out at the time. That night I realized what it was Nikki was telling us.
At night before bed I used to give both dogs a milk bone snack.. until recently, I had stopped giving Harmony hers as it seemed she never ate hers… so I was only giving Hayden one.
As it turns out..Harmony eats hers a lot more slowly than Hayden. Harmony nibbles at hers .. very.. slowly.. after a few minutes, eventually eating it all.
I was so impressed with Nikki after that happened. Harmony actually told on me..that I was leaving her out of the treats at night, and Nikki conveyed how unhappy Harmony was about it. I was so embarrassed to admit to my partner I was leaving Harmony out but it was the truth.
Nikki is amazing.
Thanks for sharing your story Deanne! I hope my/Greta’s session is as enlightening.
